The official categories and who is eligible to enter them are as follows:
Proficient Men - Open to all male competitors regardless of age
Proficient Women - Open to all female competitors regardless of age
Juniors - Open to all Junior competitors aged 15 years and under at the start of the Junior competition
Veterans - Open to all competitors aged 60 and over at the start of the Veterans competition
Classic Pan - Open to all competitors - you will be given a traditional steel 14" Estwing Pan to use
2 Person Team - Open to all competitors forming a 2 person team
3 Person Team - Open to all competitors forming a 3 person team
5 Person Team - Open to all competitors forming a 5 person team
National Team - Open to teams of 5 persons. One team per country and individual team members must all be nationals of the same country
The fun / unofficial categories and who is eligible to enter them are as follows:
Keep Calm Only Use One Arm - Open to all competitors, and you have to use one arm only - concessions available
Miners Mess Tin - Open to all competitors - you will be provided with a special pan for this category - concessions available
Dark Skies - Open to all competitors forming a 2 person team. This category will take place at night
Beginners - Open to all persons that have never competed in a Gold Panning competition before - concessions available
Disabled - This category is open to all competitors with a physical and/or mental handicap
Children - Open to all children aged 9 years and under at the start of the Childrens category
Family - Open to teams of 3, 4 or 5 family members. The teams must consist of at least 1 or 2 parents or grandparents, and 1, 2, 3 or 4 children or grandchildren (minimum team size 3 persons and maximum team size 5 persons). Each family's total panning time will be divided by the number of people competing in their family to give a family its average time. The family with the lowest average time in the final will be the winner.

All competitors that have registered online for the official categories and already paid need to come to the registration area at the event to collect their welcome pack, diploma and ID badge.
Online registration has now closed and will re-open at the Beechgrove Sports Centre in Moffat at 9am on Saturday 5th August 2017. For those that have not already registered, the registration form can be viewed and printed by clicking on the link below. This completed form can then be brought with you to the event in order to register.
